Easter

After slipping into a peaceful sugar induced coma, I had a thoughtful conversation with my 5 & 6 year old about Jesus, crucifixion, and God.
A summary of Kaitlyn & Samantha’s thoughts follows:

  • It was agreed that Crucifixion was much easier to talk about with lots of candy. That must be why we get candy at Easter.

  • God being very smart must have understood that kids would have a hard time understanding why anyone would be so mean to a nice guy like Jesus.

  • God must have decided looking for candy & eggs would be like the women looking for Jesus in the tomb.

  • Finding all the wonderful candy would be like the joy of knowing he was not dead and with God.

  • Focus on the good parts, like being with god instead of wormy, not the scary parts that led to Jesus being dead. Just saying Jesus is dead is scary enough for kids. (We would have to know he was dead for anybody to be looking for him in a grave.) In talks about easter; leading up to easter.

  • All the other stuff is to scary to talk about before candy. We should still talk about it but not till after the candy.

I love my kids. I love the way they think. I love the way they reason things out. I love the logic process they use to solve a problem. I love their relationship with God.
